ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The MoWest cross country and track and field program will welcome a new addition to its coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.
Interim Head Coach Sean Gosewisch has announced the hiring of Jana Shawver as the program's new Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach. Shawver officially joined the staff on September 3.
Coach Gosewisch shared his thoughts on the hire, saying: "Jana will be a great addition to our programs. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her time as an athlete and graduate assistant. She will have an immediate impact on the cross country side and be a great asset for our mid-distance athletes on the track side. I look forward to working with her."
Shawver competed collegiately at the University of Central Missouri from 2021–2023, where she earned Division II All-American honors in both the 800-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology before moving into coaching.
From 2023–2025, Shawver served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Angelo State University while completing her master's degree in coaching and sport administration. During her time at ASU, she coached the 2025 Division II national runner-up in the men's 800 meters and guided the 2024 Division II national champion in the women's 400-meter hurdles. "I'm very excited for this opportunity to be at MoWest," Shawver said. "I would like to thank Coach Gosewisch for bringing me into the program, and I'm looking forward to building upon the great traditions that have been established here."
