KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Western Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has been crowned the MIAA SAAC Cup Champions.
This is the second time that MWSU SAAC has achieved this honor since the award began in 2013. The Griffons' last SAAC Cup Championship came in 2019.
The Griffons secured the title with a total of 10,250 points, exceeding the previous two champions, Nebraska-Kearney (9,100) and Missouri Southern (8,263).
Points are awarded for financial contributions, participation in campus SAAC meetings, MIAA-based activities and community involvement.
SAAC President
Ellie Messenger from Griffon Tennis and Vice President
Cody Watson from Griffon Football spearheaded a year-long initiative featuring several significant events.
Highlights included the annual
Griffs Giving Gifts, where 11 families received presents and six families were provided with Thanksgiving meals. The Earth Day event saw all teams participating in a cleanup at 12 locations in St. Joseph.
The Easter Egg Hunt brought joy to over 40 children at the Spring Sports Complex and the
Trick-or-Treat with the Griffs event brought more than 100 kids to the Looney Complex on Halloween.
Missouri Western SAAC will be presented with the traveling award at the MIAA Awards Celebration on Monday, June 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. To RSVP for the event,
