Garr earns First Team, Trotter Second Team All-American honors at nationals

Garr gets first career First Team nod, Trotter earns first career All-American honor.

PUEBLO, Co. – Missouri Western throwers Makenzie Garr and Lucas Trotter earned all-American status in shot put at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the CSU-Pueblo ThunderBowl Saturday.

Garr is a first-team all-American for the first time in her career, finishing fourth in shot put with a throw of 15.61 meters (51' 2.75").

Garr becomes the first Griffon female athlete to earn first-team all-American status in shot put at outdoor nationals.

"I'm so excited for Makenzie to finally get her first of hopefully many First Team All-American honors," said head coach Cody Ingold. "It was a cool, full-circle moment for (her brother and throwers' coach) Jordan Garr to coach her to it as well.

Garr now owns three outdoor and one indoor all-America honor in her career. She earned second team All-American status on Friday in discus, placing 11th with a throw of 47.02 meters (154' 3").

On the men's side, Lucas Trotter earned second team all-American honors, placing ninth in shot put with a distance of 17.55 meters (57' 7"), earning his first career all-American nod at his third career nationals appearance.

"Lucas was 16th (in shot put at outdoor nationals) last year, so making finals was a huge improvement," Ingold said, "but it's still far short from our goals."
