ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western track and field athletes
Makenzie Garr,
Wimach Gilo,
Lucas Trotter and
Pau Valderrama are all set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Thunder Bowl in Pueblo, Colorado on the CSU-Pueblo campus.
Garr will compete in discus on Friday at 3:00 pm (all times listed are central) and shot put on Saturday at 2:15 pm.
Garr currently holds the fourth best shot put throw in the nation, achieving a school record distance of 15.82m (51' 11") at the Concordia Twilight on May 9 in Seward, NE.
Garr's discus throw of 49.72m (162'4") ranks as No. 9 in the nation as well.
Garr is back at outdoor nationals for a second consecutive season. She was a second-team all American last May in shot put with a throw of 15.19 meters (49' 10"), finishing ninth. She's qualified for outdoor nationals in discus for the first time this season.
Garr is a two-time indoor all-American in shot put, having placed 9
th at indoor nationals this past March.
Trotter will compete in shot put Saturday at 6:05 pm. He heads into nationals with the No. 1 throw in the country of 18.76m (61' 6.75"), breaking
Jordan Garr's school record with the effort at the Concordia Twilight on May 9 in Seward, NE.
Trotter also makes a return trip to outdoor nationals after qualifying last season in shot put. He finished 16
th then with a throw of 16.64 m (54' 7.25").
Gilo and Valderrama make history as the first Griffon men's athletes to compete in a running event at an outdoor national track meet.
They'll both compete in the 3000m steeplechase. Valderrama's time of 8:50.74 (school record) is the 12th fastest in the country, while Gilo's time of 8:56.52 is ranked No. 19 in the field.
Prelims for the steeplechase will take place on Thursday at 7:10 pm, followed by finals on Friday at 8:30 pm.
