COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Missouri Western track and field opened the outdoor season strong, as the throwers collected four first-place finishes on Friday at the Revier Rust Buster.
 
"I thought they competed well today! I am glad they were able to get out and throw some implements we haven't thrown since last spring," commented head coach Cody Ingold. "It was also nice to see the javelin throwers get rolling," Ingold added. "They train a lot for a 10-week season, and I thought they opened well!"
 
On the men's side, Lucas Trotter went a perfect 2-for-2 with victories in the hammer throw and shot put. His shot put toss of 55 feet 9 inches was good enough for an NCAA Division II Provisional Mark.
 
Dawson Miller added a third-place finish in the hammer with a throw of 140 feet 9 inches. He also finished 11th in the javelin.
 
On the women's side, Allyssa Mahone led the way with a first-place finish in the discus with a throw of 150 feet 3 inches (NCAA Division II Provo) and a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 171 feet 1 inch.
 
Makenzie Garr also shined with a first-place finish in the shot put with a provo mark of 50 feet 10.25 inches. Additionally, Carlie Bradshaw finished second and Danika Wattenbarger fourth in the javelin.
 
Missouri Western track and field will return to action at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, from March 26-29, as well as the OBU Invitational in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on March 28-29.
