ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Volleyball (10-5, 2-2 MIAA) delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, sweeping Fort Hays State (13-3,2-2 MIAA) in straight sets inside the Looney Complex.
The Griffons rolled to victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-23, and 25-13. MoWest came out firing in the opening frame, controlling the pace with efficient hitting and strong serving to take the first set 25-13. The second set saw Fort Hays State respond with a tighter battle, but the Griffons held firm down the stretch to edge out a 25-23 win. MWSU closed out game in the third set cruising to a 25-13 finish to seal the sweep.
MoWest was led offensively by
Noelle Sutcliffe, who tallied 11 kills and hit .276, while
Taylor Russell added nine kills with an impressive .474 hitting percentage.
Holly Heldt chipped in eight kills on a .318 clip to round out the balanced Griffon attack.
Setting duties were shared between
Hayley Barsky, who recorded 17 assists, and
Katelyn Diani-O'Day, who finished with 14 assists. From the service line,
Lia Graham sparked the team with five aces, followed by
Anna Weberg with three.
Defensively, Weberg anchored the back row with 20 digs and Barsky got 10 digs. At the net, Salker led the blocking effort with five block assists.

MoWest Volleyball hits the road next weekend, opening at Arkansas–Fort Smith on Friday, Oct. 10 with first serve at 6 p.m. The trip continues at No.1 Central Oklahoma on Saturday, Oct. 11 with first serve at 2 p.m.
