Griffon Soccer battles Drury to hard-fought draw at Spratt Stadium

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Soccer turned in another strong defensive effort on Wednesday evening, earning its ninth shutout of the season in a scoreless draw against Drury at Spratt Stadium.

Despite controlling much of the match, MoWest (8-1-4, 4-1-2 MIAA) couldn't find the finishing touch against a disciplined Drury (7-2-5, 6-1-4 GLVC). The Griffons fired 13 total shots, five of which were on target, compared to Drury's six attempts.

MoWest's defense held strong throughout, limiting the Panthers to just three shots on goal while keeping goalkeeper Morgan Byrd's night relatively quiet. The Griffons also generated seven corner kicks to Drury's two, staying on the front foot for much of the match.

The contest proved physical from start to finish, featuring four yellow cards and a combined 23 fouls, with Drury committing 15 and MoWest adding eight. Both teams battled hard in the midfield, with neither side able to break through despite multiple scoring opportunities late in regulation.

After the match, Head Coach Jacob Plocher said:

"The ladies played with great effort, and I thought we did a good job of building and possessing and transitioned quickly. At the end of the day we just have to finish chances we create."

With the result, the Griffons move to 8-1-4 overall and remain unbeaten at home since 2024, now holding a 16-0-2 record at Spratt Stadium over that span.
