WARRENSBURG, Mo. — MoWest Soccer (6-1-3, 2-1-2 MIAA) dropped a tightly contested 1-0 decision to No. 9 Central Missouri (7-2-3, 4-0-2 MIAA) on Sunday afternoon at South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies struck early, netting the game's only goal in the second minute when Patsy O'Brien scored off an assist from Coryn Jespersen. From there, both defenses tightened up, and neither side found the back of the net again.
The Griffons generated multiple offensive chances, recording 11 total shots to the Jennies' 12. MWSU placed four of those attempts on goal.
Kendall Knisley led MoWest with four shots, while
Rosemary Pujado added two and
Ava Smith recorded one on goal.
In goal,
Morgan Byrd turned in a solid performance with four saves across the full 90 minutes, keeping the Griffons within striking distance throughout.
