Jeffrey Johnston is atop the leaderboard after two terrific rounds, and the Missouri Western men's golf team is in second place after the first two rounds of the MWSU Central Region Preview at St. Joseph Country Club Monday.
The Griffons' team score of 567 (-1) is 18 shots behind first place Central Oklahoma, and one stroke ahead of third place team Southern Arkansas.
Johnston shot a two-round score of 134 (-8), giving him a two-stroke lead over Elliot Han Monteremal of Rogers State. Johnston had a combined 10 birdies through the first two rounds. He eagled on hole 10 in his first round as well.
Aiden Asby shot an even par 71 in each round, putting him in 14th place.
Parker Bunting is close behind, shooting a two-round total of 143 (+1), tying him for 18th. Twin brothers
Tim Johnston and
Patrick Johnston have an identical score at the end of the first day. They're tied for 51st, having shot a 149 (+7) through the first two rounds.
The third and final round of the MWSU Central Region Preview tees off on Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m.
