JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri Western Track & Field witnessed two Griffons clinch individual titles at this weekend's MIAA Outdoor Championships at Dwight T. Stadium.
Madison Nash kicked things off for the Griffons on Saturday night by claiming first place for the second year in a row in the women's 10,000-meter run. Nash smoked the field, winning by 26 seconds after running a time of 36:30.28 minutes.
Riley Gorham won the other conference championship for the Griffons, edging out the field in the 1,500-meter run by just under a second. Gorham ran a 3:48.23, beating Nebraska Kearney's Luke Stuckey by .89 seconds. This is Gorham's first-ever first place finish at either an indoor or outdoor conference championship meet.
Missouri Western grabbed more than just the two conference championships, with two other Griffons making the podium and three total school records falling. Six other Griffons ran their own personal best over the weekend as well.
Allyssa Mahone's 44.53-meter discus throw was good for second overall.
Alexis Adams broke the school record in the women's 800-meter race, finishing third with a NCAA provisional time of 2:12.15. The final podium of the weekend came from the student-athlete who clinched the Griffs' first spot on the podium, as Nash finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time 18:01.39.
The Griffon women's team finished eighth out of 12 teams, while the men's program finished 10th.
NOTABLES
- Mahone and Camryn Huggans swapped the school record from each other in the women's shot put, with Mahone reclaiming it by the end of the day with a fourth-place finish.
- Alex Thompson, Connor Thom, Sawyer Morrow and MJ Smith broke for the school record in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing in 41.76 seconds.
- Jalen Peterson broke the school record in the men's 10k, clocking in at 31:59.57.
- Six other Griffons grabbed top-eight finishes to round out the weekend at Lincoln.

Missouri Western awaits to see who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships. The Griffons plan on participating in a last-chance meet at a date to be determined.
