Verduzco inducted into St. Joseph Baseball Hall of Fame

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Even recently retired, Griffon Baseball legend Charles "Buzz" Verduzco is still accumulating lifetime accomplishments.

The St. Joseph Baseball Hall of Fame inducted Verduzco into the class of 2023 during Saturday's pregame ceremony at Phil Welch Stadium. Preceding their matchup with the Des Moines Prospects, the Mustangs honored Missouri Western's second-ever skipper due to not only his 23-year career in St. Joe, but also for the longstanding impact he made within the baseball community.

"It's something that I'm going to remember forever and be proud of," Verduzco said. "They said our program and what we did during my time here was worth recognition, and that means a lot to me."

Verduzco finished his career with MWSU as the program's all-time winningest head coach, racking up a record of 629-546 during his tenure while winning the 2013 MIAA Coach of the Year Award. Since the program and organization first formed in 2009, Verduzco supplied the MINK League with multiple Griffon student-athletes, helping fine tune and craft MWSU's contributions to the league's ever-rising competitiveness for the last 14 years.

The rest of the St. Joseph Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2023 was also honored during the ceremony. The rest of the HOF inductees can be found in the Mustangs' full press release in the tab above.
