ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Missouri Western Track & Field saw three school records fall on Thursday, as the Griffons competed across three different events spanning from Maryville, Missouri, to Des Moines and Indianola, Iowa.
DRAKE RELAYS
Riley Gorham was the only Griffon to compete on Thursday in Des Moines at the Drake Relays, but he did not disappoint. Gorham broke his school record in the 1,500-meter race, running a 3:47.15 to take second in the event. He finished just one second off first place, making up seven places in the final 300 meters.
KIP JANVRIN INVITE
Three Griffons ran on Thursday at the Kip Janvrin Invite in Indianola.
Abby Kinney ran a 5:03.15 in the women's 1,500-meter run,
Kayden Crigger ran a 3:56.67 in the men's 1,500-meter run and Zachary Carter ran a 9:52.17 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
BEARCAT TUNEUP
Missouri Western and the Bearcats of Northwest Missour State were the only two teams running at the Bearcat Tuneup on Thursday outside of four total entries for Iowa Western CC. The Griffons snagged numerous top-five finishes and wins, and the men's 4x100-meter-relay team of
Alex Thompson, Conor Thom,
Sawyer Morrow and
MJ Smith set the school record with a time of 41.92 seconds.
On the women's side, the Griffons recorded wins thanks to
Alexis Adams' performance in the women's 800-meter run,
Emma Schwinn's showing in the women's 400-meter hurdles,
Allyssa Mahone's victories in the women's hammer throw and discus throw and
Camryn Huggans in the women's shot put.
Alex Thompson won the men's 400-meter hurdles, breaking the school record with a 55.82 finish.
Corbin Cera also won the men's 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 4:40.95
