Marius Dosiere named MIAA Men's Golf Freshman of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time since 2017, the MIAA Freshman of the Year plays for Missouri Western Men's Golf.

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its postseason awards and all-conference team for the 2022-23 men's golf season, naming Marius Disiere as the top fresshman in the MIAA. 

Dosiere was the highest-finishing freshman in the 2022-23 MIAA Designated Standings. The first-year international student-athlete from La Rochelle, France competed in two of the Association's designated events and placed in the top-ten in both. Dosiere competed in 10 events this season and owns a season average of 73.60. He captured two individual titles this season at The Mule and the Maverick Desert Classic.

He is the first Griffon to win this award since Patrick McCarthy did so in 2017.
 
Missouri Southern's Tradgon McCrae was named the MIAA Golfer of the Year and head coach of the Lions Mike Wheeler was voted the MIAA Coach of the Year by his peers. Missouri Western's Marius Dosiere was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year.
 
Tradgon McCrae finished at the top of the 2022-23 MIAA Designated Standings to be crowned the Golfer of the Year. The senior from Plainville, Kan. competed in three of the Association's four designated events and placed in the top-five in each of them. McCrae captured the individual title at the 24th Annual NSU Golf Classic, tied for fifth at the Broncho Invitational and was the runner-up at the 2023 MIAA Championship. He led the Lions to a MIAA regular season, a MIAA tournament title and leads all MIAA golfers with a season average of 71.7.
 
In his 13th season leading MSSU men's golf, Mike Wheeler helped the Lions capture their first MIAA title since 2003. Missouri Southern had five top-three team finishes and finished in the top-10 in eight of their 11 events in the 2022-23 season. This is Wheeler's first Coach of the Year honor.
