ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — With snow canvassing Craig Field at Spratt Stadium, the Griffons' first-ever lacrosse game inside the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex started on wrong end the stick.
Five goals in the first quarter by Colorado-Colorado Springs helped the Mountain Lions shoot past Missouri Western 14-7 on Friday. Natalie Church notched the first goal of the game just under three minutes in, her stick still sizzling from two goals against Grand Valley State on Wednesday. Just less than two minutes later, UCCS scored again, this time an assist from Church to Holly Sodomka.
With
Madison Brady and her seven goals this season sitting on the sidelines after being scuffed up on Tuesday,
Sam Pruitt stepped up to the plate. The freshman fired three goals into the net for her second hat trick of the season and leads the team with eight scores.
Amani Robinson stepped back onto the field for the first time since scoring her own hat trick on March 3 vs. Northern Michigan. Robinson recorded two more goals while
Jorja Schooler and
Morgan Nicholson found goals of their own.
