It's Official: Garr, Williams Qualify for Nationals

Griffon Duo qualify for three total events.

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA released most of the information Tuesday that we already knew.  Griffon Track & Field's Hanna Williams and Jordan Garr have officially punched their tickets to the NCAA National Indoor Championships scheduled for March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kansas.

The mild surprise reveal is that Williams will be competing for not one- but two national titles that weekend.

The MWSU senior and program founding member qualified for both the Women's 400 Meter and 200 Meter race. Williams has the eighth fastest time in the nation in the 400 this season (54.81) and the 20th fastest time in the 200 (24.40).  She is the 20th and final selection for the championships.

Williams' 400 time of 54.81 that clinched the MIAA title on Sunday has her as the 8th fastest time in NCAA Division II this season.  This marks the fourth trip to nationals for the Plattsburg, Missouri native. Williams is now a four-time qualifier in the 400 (two indoor, two outdoor) and she earned All-American honors in the event during the 2021 outdoor season.

Garr - a St. Joseph native - will be making his second straight trip to nationals in the Men's Shot Put.  The back-to-back MIAA champion owns the fourth-best mark in Division II this season with a distance of 18.48m, which he's accomplished twice in 2022.

While both student-athletes are no strangers to nationals, this year marks the first time the duo has qualified together - fitting for two of the program's founding members, who have been with the program since its inception.
