ST. JOSEPH, MO. – Missouri Western Softball is set to host six straight home games, starting this weekend against Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State.

Previewing Missouri Western
The Griffons have a 30-10 overall record and a 15-3 conference record. MWSU won all four games last weekend, sweeping both Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney. The Griffons have also won eight of their last nine games as well.

Taylor Hamilton earned MIAA Player of the Week, hitting six home runs last week and hit .522 while piling up 17 RBIs. Her performance also included two walk-off home runs. Morgan Rathman leads the team with a .396 batting average including 57 hits. Kailey Green leadsthe team with 11 home runs now and is second on the team in RBI's with 32. Katie Klosterman, Shelbie Atwell, Paige Shifflett are all hitting over .300 this season.

Janie Smith is 16-7 overall, pitching 149.2 innings and tallying 105 strikeouts on the year. Shyanne Saladino owns a 14-3 pitching record and has a team-low 2.29 ERA. She has 77 strikeouts and only 34 walks on the year.

Previewing Missouri Southern
Missouri Southern holds a 22-25 overall record and currently sits 9-9 in MIAA play. The Lions have won three of their last four. On Wednesday night, the Lions split a double header against Rogers State. Last weekend, MSSU earned a sweep of Lindenwood and split against Lincoln.

Abi Corbett leads the Lions offensively, hitting .379 and recording a team-high 61 hits. Taurean Guzman and Alana Hester are the only other players hitting over .300 on the year. Sarah Williams has 10 home runs this year and leads the team with 40 RBIs.  

Ashley Lutz has a 13-11 overall record in the circle, posting a team-low 2.34 ERA. She has also recorded 130 strikeouts. Kali Hodson has a 6-6 record this year, pitching 71 innings and 51 strikeouts.

Previewing Pittsburg State
The Gorillas are 33-10 on the season and have a 17-1 conference mark. The lone conference loss for PSU came on Tuesday to Central Missouri. Prior to the loss, the Gorillas won 10 straight games.

Offensively, four players are hitting .300 for the Gorillas and the team hits .295. Pittsburg State has 42 home runs this year compared to opponents having just 13 home runs. Nicole Nease and Kylie Guthier have hit 12 and 11 home runs, respectively. Nease has a team hit 39 RBIs and Katy Remy has 30 RBIs.

Emmie Robertson has been stellar in the circle for the Gorillas. She owns an 18-5 overall record and has struck out 201 batters this season. Morgan Myers has a 2.55 ERA and a 12-4 record.
