ST. JOSEPH, MO. – The Griffons will wrap up their six game home stand against rival Northwest Missouri State on Thursday, starting at 4 p.m. The doubleheader will be played as non-conference games in St. Joseph.

Previewing Missouri Western

The Griffons are currently 34-10 overall and 19-3 in conference, sitting in first place in the MIAA standings. MWSU has won eight straight games, sweeping Fort Hays State, Nebraska-Kearney, Missouri Southern and Pittsburg St. The Griffons' sweep of Pittsburg State propelled them into first place in the MIAA standings.
 
Missouri Western continues to be explosive with six players hitting over .300 this year. Morgan Rathmann is hitting a team-high .396 and leads the team with 63 hits and eight triples this year. She has also stolen 22 of 25 bases. Shortstop Shelbie Atwell is second on the team with 52 hits and is second with 35 RBIs. Kailey Green, Katie Klostermann and Taylor Hamilton give the Griffons their power, combining to hit 29 home runs this year. Hamilton has a team-high 47 RBIs as well.
 
In the circle, Janie Smith continues to lead the way with 167.2 innings pitched this year. She has an 18-7 overall record and seven complete game shutouts. Smith has tallied 115 strikeouts and has an ERA of 2.71. Shyanne Saladino has a team-low 2.17 ERA, pitching 132.1 innings and striking out 82 batters.

Previewing Northwest Missouri State
 
The Bearcats own a 33-9 record and 17-5 conference record. They have won nine straight games and currently sit tied for second place in the conference standings. The Bearcats swept Pittsburg State this past weekend, earning the tie breaker for second place.
 
Rebecca Maher and Torri Blythe are leading the team with a .386 and .385 batting average, respectively. Blythe has a team high 57 hits this year and has stolen 16 of 18 bases. Jessica Rawie has 37 RBIs and Alexis Kelsey has nine home runs this year for the Bearcats, leading the team in each category.
 
Pitcher Kendle Schieber has an 18-4 overall record. She has pitched 139 innings and owns a 1.91 ERA. Sarah Baldwin has a 9-4 record and Rachel Smith is 6-1 this year for the Bearcats.
