Live Stats ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Softball will play in a state other than Arkansas for the first time in the young season. This weekend the No. 16 Griffons trek to St. Cloud, Minnesota to take part in the Kelly Laas Memorial Invite. Missouri Western will play five games in three days against competition from the NSIC.
Missouri Western is 4-3 on the season after going 2-1 last weekend at the UAM 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Arkansas. The threat of bad weather cancelled what would have been two more games on the final day of the event for the Griffons.
An impressive weekend in Bentonville has
Morgan Rathmann at the top of the batting list for Missouri Western. The junior is batting .407 with three doubles and four stolen bases in five attempts. Rathmann has also scored 14 runs to lead the team. Five different Griffons have one home run on the season, none have more than one.
Shelbie Atwell and
Taylor Hamilton lead the team with seven RBIs each.
Paige Shifflett has driven in six.
Janie Smith picked up two wins last week to push her record to 3-1 on the year. The senior carries a 4.00 ERA, but has allowed 17 runs in 28 innings, all but one earned. Smith has struck out 18 batters and walked nine while holding batters to a .257 average.
Shyanne Saladino's record has been hurt by her defense. Saladino is 1-2 with a 1.24 ERA. Of the 15 runs she's allowed in 22.2 innings, just four have been earned. The senior has struck out 16, walked four and is holding batters to a .258 clip.
Live Stats will only be provided for the final game against host St. Cloud State. Game times are subject to change, but cancellations are doubtful with all games played in the Husky Dome on the campus of St. Cloud State.
