ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Softball will begin the 2015 season with five games in three days in Arkadelphia Arkansas over the weekend. Missouri Western is coming off a 39-18 season that was capped off by winning the MIAA postseason tournament and the team's seventh NCAA Regional appearance in the last nine years.

The Griffons were picked third in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, the same spot they finished in 2014. Tiffany Gillaspy is coming off an outstanding junior campaign and enters the 2015 season as one of 50 players on the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year watch list. Gillaspy was a first team All-MIAA and All-Region player last year in addition to being named third team All-American.

In her 14^th year as head coach, Jen Bagley Trotter carries a 454-275 record at MWSU. Trotter's team brings a mix of new faces with returning players in 2015. She says she expects the team to be more offensive minded than some of her most recent Griffon teams that relied heavily on Jackie Bishop in the circle. Bishop wrapped up her Griffon career last season as the school's all-time leader in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, appearances, complete games and shutouts.

Missouri Western will play a single game at Henderson State on Friday before staying in Arkadelphia for the HSU/OBU Ronnie Hawkins Invitational. The Griffons will face the Reddies again Saturday morning before an afternoon matchup with Mississippie College. On Sunday, MWSU faces Arkansas-Monticello at 10 a.m. and co-host, Ouachita Baptiat at 2 p.m.

Live stats will be provided for all five games by Henderson State. The link for all games is above.
