ST. JOSEPH, MO. - Griffon Volleyball moved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play Tuesday night with a five-set victory over Northwest Missouri State. It was the team's third straight MIAA win.
Scouting the Griffons - Against Northwest, it was Boender's turn to lead the Griffon offense, racking up 14 kills on the night. Boender hit .387 and added eight block assists and two digs.
Erica Rottinghaus had 13 kills and Kelsey finished with 11 kills, nine digs and four block assists.
Sarah Faubel had 12 digs to move her closer to the MWSU career digs record.
Jordan Chohon added 11 digs and led the team with 51 assists.
Lindsey Partridge continued her upward swing with eight kills, including the clincher, and five block assists.
Missouri Western still sits atop of the MIAA in hitting percentage posting a .286 ratio. The Griffons rely on
Jessie Thorup,
Amanda Boender,
Kelsey Olion,
Lindsey Partridge, and
Erica Rottinghaus for a majority of the offense. Thorup and Rottinghus are both in the top 10 for kills per set.
Jordan Chohon is another effective weapon offensively sitting third in the MIAA, averaging 11.60 assists per set.
Scouting the Lions - Missouri Southern picked up its first conference win in three seasons, winning at Pittsburg State three sets to two. Southern (4-8, 1-3 MIAA) was led offensively by Krishna Merriman as the sophomore had 17 kills and 12 digs. Abby Finder had 47 assists and nine digs, while Callie Whetstone and Katie Politte had 13 and 12 kills, respectively.
The Lions offensively are led by Katie Politte, Krishna Merriman, Callie Whetstone all averaging over 2.20 kills per set. Katie Wiele is the defensive leader for MSSU with here 4.07 dig average per set. As a collective unit Missouri Southern is averaging a .140 hitting percentage.
Scouting the Bronchos - Unbeaten Central Oklahoma looks to stay atop the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association standings this weekend when the Bronchos host a pair of league rivals. UCO, which is 42-4 in sets this season, has a .284 hitting percentage as a team.
Sophomore Allison Barr is hitting 443, having racked up 121 kills with just 16 errors in 237 attacks. Katy Davis was named MIAA Specialist of the Week for her performance in MIAA play 3-0. She has 552 assists, averaging 12.0 a set and 39.4 a match. The Bronchos own a 7-2 series advantage and have won the last three matches, with the last two both going five sets.
