Tennis sits No. 5 in final NCAA Central Region rankings

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Tennis is ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Women's Tennis Central Region Rankings released Wednesday afternoon.

The eight-team regional field features five teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Washburn, Central Oklahoma, Northwest Missouri, MoWest and Northeastern State along with Augustana and Minnesota State from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Southeastern Oklahoma State from the Great American Conference.

The top six teams in the final rankings will qualify for the NCAA Tournament with the top two seeds serving as hosts and receiving a first round bye. The winner at each three-team host site will advance to the NCAA Championships.   

The selection show is set for Monday, May 4 beginning at 7:00 p.m. CST streamed on NCAA.com.

What's Next
The 2026 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship begins at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1, with No. 4 seed MWSU taking on No. 5 seed Northeastern State in a quarterfinal matchup. The Griffons enter postseason play ranked No. 45 nationally and will look to build on their strong season against a RiverHawks team they defeated earlier this year.

The winner of Friday's quarterfinal will advance to the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, where it will face No. 1 seed Central Oklahoma.
