ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Baseball (16-17, 11-11 MIAA) walked it off Thursday as Dylan Coty delivered a solo home run in the ninth inning to lift the Griffons to a 7-6 win over Washburn (12-21, 9-11 MIAA) at Griffon Baseball Field.

Washburn struck first in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead, using a fielder's choice to bring home the game's opening run.

The Griffons quickly responded with a three-run frame. Issac Huettl got MWSU on the board with an RBI double, Ben Waliczek followed with an RBI single, and Micah Kobuszewski added an RBI double to give the Griffons a 3-1 lead.
The Ichabods answered in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Washburn regained control in the sixth inning, using a three-run frame to take a 6-3 advantage, capitalizing on a walk, an error, and interference to plate multiple runs.

MWSU responded in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 6-6. Luke Shannahan scored on a wild pitch to start the rally, while Huettl added an RBI single. The Griffons later evened the score as Huettl came home on a wild pitch in the inning to complete the comeback.

After both teams were held in check late, Coty provided the game-winning moment in the ninth with a solo shot to left field to secure the 7-6 victory.

On the mound, Cam Saleh went 5.1 innings with three earned runs and three strikeouts. Lawson Minshew and Evan Peterson combined in relief before Jackson Parrill tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win.
