Men's golf one stroke off the lead after first round of MIAA Championships

Griffons one stroke behind No. 6 UCO, No. 41 Washburn who are tied for lead.

JEFFERSON City, Mo. - Griffon Men's Golf is just one shot off the lead after the first round of the MIAA Championships at Jefferson City Country Club Monday.

MoWest sits only one stroke back of No. 6 Central Oklahoma and No. 41 Washburn, who both have a team score of 293 (+5). MoWest has a 294 (+6), sitting two strokes ahead of fourth place Central Missouri.

Parker Boggins leads three Griffs in the top ten, as he's tied for sixth with an even par 72. He birdied on holes 6, 11 and 17. Boggins is only two strokes back from first.

Aiden Asby is right behind in 8th with a 73 (+1). On the front nine, Asby recorded four birdies and five pars.

Tim Johnston sits tied for 9th with a 74 (+2). He birdied on 2, 5 and 8.

Ethan Mustard is tied for 15th with a 75 (+3). He logged 15 total pars. Bennett Berger is tied for 25th with a 76 (+4). Berger parred 10 of his last 12 holes, and birdied on 14.

MoWest will start of the second round on Tuesday with the first groupings teeing off at 8:30 a.m. The third and final round is set for Wednesday.
