Men's golf in third after first day of Firekeeper Open

Griffs sit 10 shots back from the lead with one round to go.

MAYETTA, Kan. - Griffon Men's Golf sits in third place out of 17 teams competing in the Firekeeper Open at the Firekeepr Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas.

Through two rounds, MoWest shot a team score of 580 (+4) - just two shots back of second place Washburn and 10 back of leading team Central Oklahoma.

Bennett Berger is the top Griffon on the leaderboard, sitting tied for fourth with a two-round score of 143 (-1). He shot a 71 and 72 respectively, birdying five times in the first round and three more in the second.

Aiden Asby and Tim Johnston are tied for ninth with a 145 (+1). Asby birdied three of his last five holes to end round one. Johnston birdied three of his first five to open the first round.

Parker Boggins and Parker Bunting are tied for 44th with a 150 (+6). Boggins birdied twice in each round. Bunting birdied twice in round one, and improved by five strokes in round two, carding four birdies over the last 18 holes Monday.

MoWest concludes the Firekeeper Open on Tuesday morning with the third and final round teeing off at 9 a.m.
