ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Tennis (5-2) defeated Ouachita Baptist (2-8) 5-2 on Friday at Genesis Health Club. MoWest secured the victory by winning five of the six singles matches after dropping the doubles point.
Ouachita Baptist claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Griffons picked up their lone doubles victory at No. 1, where Jevrosima Mitic and Alejandra Ramirez Botella earned a 6-4 win.
MoWest responded in singles play, winning five of six matches to secure the team victory. Jevrosima Mitic earned a straight-set win at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-2, while Cristina Granero Boj followed with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles. Alejandra Ramirez Botella added another point with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Johanna Priedite delivered a key comeback victory at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set, the junior rallied to win the final two sets and secure the point for the Griffons. Mila Larrieu also battled through a three-set match at No. 6 singles, winning the match tiebreaker to seal the final point of the day for MoWest.

Griffon Tennis starts its road trip through Arkansas with three matches in three days. MoWest faces Arkansas Tech on Sunday, March 15 at 12 p.m. in Russellville, followed by Henderson State on Monday, March 16 at 12 p.m. in Arkadelphia. The trip concludes Tuesday, March 17 with a 3 p.m. matchup against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.
