ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Baseball (6-8, 1-3 MIAA) tallied 15 hits and leaned on a shutout gem from pitcher
Cole Evans in a 10-0 win over Central Oklahoma (9-6, 0-1 MIAA) in seven innings on Thursday at MWSU Spring Sports Complex in St. Joseph.
MoWest struck first with a run in the second, two more in the third, two more in the fifth, four runs in the sixth and the game-ending run in the seventh.
The Griffons hit seven doubles amongst seven different players - tied for the second most doubles in a single game in program history. It was the most doubles in a single game for Griffon Baseball since Washburn at home on March 11, 2018.
Evans (3-1) threw seven shutout innings, striking out five and walking none. Evans hit three batters, but limited the Bronchos to just seven hits.
Six Griffs had multiple base hits.
Seth Winkler went 3-for-3 with a double and a team-best three RBIs.
David De Hoyos was 2-for-5 with a run, a double and two RBIs.
Issac Huettl was 2-for-3 with a team-best three runs scored. He, too had a double.
Luke Shannahan scored a pair of runs, and he, too had one of the seven doubles.
