KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released its Athletes of the Week for week three of the 2026 softball season.
Griffon Softball's Kalee Higdon earned MIAA Hitter of the Week honors, becoming the first MWSU player to receive the award this season.
Higdon turned in an impressive all-around showing over four games, starting each contest at shortstop. She batted .500 (7-for-14) with six runs scored and 10 RBIs, adding two doubles and a home run while posting a .857 slugging percentage and a .533 on-base percentage.
Her highlight moment came against Southern Nazarene, where she blasted a grand slam to bring home four runs and ignite the Griffon offense.
Higdon also displayed discipline at the plate, drawing one walk and getting hit by a pitch while striking out just once in 14 at-bats. On the bases, she was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts, creating constant pressure on opposing defenses.
Griffon Softball returns to action Feb. 27–March 1 at the 2026 Top Gun Midwest College Classic in Kansas City, Mo.
The Griffons open play Friday, Feb. 27 against Winona State at 10 a.m. before facing Minnesota State Moorhead at 12:15 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 28, MWSU takes on Bemidji State at 12:15 p.m. and Concordia–St. Paul at 2:30 p.m.
The weekend concludes Sunday, March 1 with matchups against Minnesota State Mankato at 10 a.m. and Quincy at 2:30 p.m.
