Mason McCain's record-breaking run in the 10000-meter highlighted Griffon track and field's trip to Mules Relays on Friday at Walton Stadium.
"Today was a great meet; we checked all the boxes," head coach
Cody Ingold commented. 'We have two more weeks to get ready for MIAA's."
Missouri Western recorded 13 top-10 finishes, with seven on the men's side and six on the women's side.
In the meet's final race, McCain set the new school record with a time of 30:57.52 to win the 10000-meter run.
Lucas Trotter also excelled in the shot put with an NCAA Division II provisional throw of 58 feet 9.25 inches, finishing third in the event.
On the women's side,
Makenzie Garr added yet another strong showing, placing first in the discus with a distance of 162 feet 4 inches and second in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet 4.5 inches, both provisional marks.
Abbey Henry shined with a fifth-place finish in the long jump, recording a distance of 17 feet 11 inches.
The Griffons will compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Long Beach State in Azusa, California, from April 16 to 19. They will also compete in the Pittsburg State Tune-up in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday, April 19.
