Missouri Western announces 2025 football recruiting class

Griffons welcome 30 freshmen and eight transfers on National Signing Day

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western head football coach Tyler Fenwick has announced the addition of 30 freshmen and eight transfers for the 2025 season on Wednesday.

The Griffons signed 14 freshmen from the state of Missouri, five from Texas, four from Kansas, two from Iowa and Nebraska and one from Florida. Of the transfers, two come from Missouri and Texas, along with one from California, Virginia, Florida and Illinois.

Position wise, the Griffons loaded up the defensive backfield, signing 14 DBs in all - 10 freshmen and four transfers. They also bring in seven offensive linemen, five receivers, five defensive linemen, two running backs, two quarterbacks, two linebackers and one kicker.

Coach Fenwick on 2025 signing class: "Each year, we set out to put together the best recruiting class Missouri Western has ever seen and our staff challenged that goal to the extreme," Fenwick said. "Our high school class is a well-rounded class that meets our needs. We did a good job of bringing in players from the state of Missouri as well as surrounding states. We wanted to make sure size, length and athleticism were key components to what we wanted. We also brought in eight midyear transfers at the positions where we felt we needed the most depth. We needed to add depth in the secondary, so we added four transfers at the safety and corner position. Defensive back was something we had to build on, and we signed seven in this class. On offense, we lost four starting senior receivers. Although we have young talent there, we wanted to bring in some experience with length. With three seniors at running back next year, we wanted to add some speed. Linebacker was another position where we needed to build depth, and we added three to the room - all with length. We needed to address the youth at quarterback, since we hadn't signed a scholarship quarter back in the last two classes.  Both are talented, and both are winners and leaders. We added another good class in the offensive line room, which will continue to help us build and develop competition for years to come."
