ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western head football coach
Tyler Fenwick has announced the 2025 schedule.
MWSU will play an 11-game schedule, which consists of nine MIAA games and two non-conference matchups. Six games will be held at Spratt Memorial Stadium, and four will start at 6:00 p.m.
The season will open with an early non-conference test on August 30 against Augustana (S.D.) of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Vikings (8-4, 8-2 NSIC) won their second straight NSIC Championship in 2024 and hosted the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
After the bye week, MWSU will host Missouri S&T from the Great Lakes Valley Conference on August 13 at 6:00 p.m. for the
Family / St. Joseph Appreciation Night home opener. Last season, the Miners finished with a record of 4-7 (3-5 GLVC), finishing tied for seventh in GLVC.
MIAA play will begin on September 20 at 6:00 p.m. in St. Joseph against the Central Missouri Mules on
Turning Back the Clock Night, where the 1975 Griffon football team will be honored. The Griffons will conclude September the following week in Hays, Kansas, on September 27 against the Fort Hays State Tigers.
In October, the Griffons will host a pair of games at 6:00 p.m. The first is the Homecoming /
Breast Cancer Awareness Game against the Emporia State Hornets on October 4. Two weeks later, on October 18, they will face the Pittsburg State Gorillas on
Military and First Responders Night.
Additionally, in October, they will travel to Kearney, Nebraska, to square off against the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (10/11) before heading south to Joplin to clash with Missouri Southern (10/25).
Championship November will begin with the
Rogers Pharmacy Hall of Fame Game against the Washburn Ichabods on November 1 at 2:00 p.m. The
Senior / Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day regular season finale is scheduled for November 15 at 2:00 p.m.
The highly anticipated
Battle of Highway 71 against arch rival Northwest Missouri State will take place in Maryville on November 8 at Bearcat Stadium. The Bearcats have a new coaching staff heading into the 2025 season after John McMenamin was appointed the program's 21st head coach last December.
