ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western baseball (1-9, 0-3 MIAA) has a quick turnaround this week as they host UMary (N.D.) on Wednesday before opening their MIAA road schedule with a weekend series against Fort Hays State (Kan.).
The Griffons and Marauders will clash at the Spring Sports Complex at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Western will end its busy week with a three-game weekend series against Fort Hays State at Larks Park in Hays, Kansas. The games are scheduled for Friday at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at noon.

TOP GRIFFON PERFORMERS
Quinn Gundelfinger heads into the week with an impressive slash line of .361/.368/.556 following a standout performance against No. 3 Central Missouri. The senior has recorded seven hits, including two home runs and a double, while driving in a team-leading 10 RBIs, scoring seven runs and stealing five bases.

Quinton Robertson has also excelled this season, contributing nine hits and seven runs and leading the team with five walks and five hit-by-pitches over the first 10 games.
On the mound, junior
Logan Winkelman has been a key player for Western, posting a 5.56 ERA over 11.1 innings pitched. He is tied with fellow junior
Lynden Bruegman for the team lead in strikeouts, each recording 10.
Redshirt freshman
Jayson Shorb has made an impact out of the bullpen, achieving seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work, while junior
Carson Rosen shined against the Mules last Sunday with five strikeouts.
ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
UMary posted a record of 23-27 (19-19 NSIC) in 2024 and was selected to finish eighth in the 2025 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 92 points.
As they head into Wednesday's game, the Marauders have a 3-5 record after starting the season on the road. Last weekend, they split a series against Metropolitan State (Colo.), finishing with a 2-2 record in Denver, Colorado.
Junior Bryce Leafgren is a standout player for Mary. The infielder has an impressive batting average of .588 and has accumulated 10 hits, including a double. He has also driven in five runs, scored twice, and earned two walks over six games.
Keep an eye on Aiden Johnson, the junior pitcher for the Marauders, who currently holds a record of 1-0. Hailing from Westminster, Colorado, he has an ERA of 3.60 and a WHIP of 1.50 across 10.0 innings pitched. Johnson ranks second on the team with six strikeouts while issuing only two walks in his two starts this season.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Fort Hays State finished 2024 with a 25-26 (12-21 MIAA) record and was selected to finish sixth in the 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Tigers have had a strong start this season with an 8-4 record. Last weekend, they spoiled Arkansas-Fort Smith's MIAA debut in Arkansas, completing the series sweep 3-0 after outscoring the Lions 24-16.
Freshman Tony Moore is a player to watch for Hays. The two-position player has slashed .395/.500/.628 with 17 hits, 11 RBIs, 10 runs and six walks in 12 starts. Seven of his hits have gone for extra bases, as he has tallied five doubles, a triple and a home run.
The FHSU pitcher to watch is righty Ty Riley (3-0). The senior heads into the week with an impressive 1.29 ERA and .86 WHIP. The Bentonville, Arkansas, native leads the team with 30 strikeouts and has walked just five batters in 21.0 innings.
