Missouri Western fans will have a new and convenient way to listen to Griffon athletics' radio broadcasts, starting this school year.
Missouri Western athletics can now be streamed live and for free on The Varsity Network app. Fans can download The Varsity Network app on iPhone and Android, getting instant access to free game day audio streams. Fans can also choose to receive push notifications to remind them of games starting, or upcoming audio broadcasts.
Once you download The Varsity Network app, just search 'Missouri Western' and you can follow the Griffon teams you want to keep up with.
"Our partnership with The Varsity Network brings so many positives," said Ryan Menley, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. "For our loyal radio listeners - many who listen to us online - it's a subtle change of a website link. In the big picture, we are now able to broadcast nearly all Griffon athletics home events in-house."
These audio broadcasts will also be heard on GoGriffons.com/listen and on thevarsitynetwork.com. Just like in years past, all Missouri Western home events will be available to watch on the MIAA Network with a subscription.
Missouri Western's Director of Broadcasting, Tommy Rezac, will be the play-by-play voice for Griffon athletics again in 2024-25. Rezac, entering his fourth season with the Griffs, will broadcast all football and men's and women's basketball games - home and away. Those will be available to listen to on the Varsity Network app and at GoGriffons.com/listen.
"I'm so excited to continue to bring Griffon fans all of the exciting action on the broadcast again this season," Rezac said. "This will be a new, convenient and more accessible way to access elite coverage of all Missouri Western sports. Thousands of college sports fans are already using The Varsity Network app to listen to their favorite Division I teams. To have Missouri Western's games on a platform where so many major D1s are also broadcasting their games is a huge deal."
Kyle Schmidt from the St. Joseph News-Press and KQ2's Chris Roush will provide color and sideline commentary throughout the season as well.
Rezac, with the help of Schmidt and Roush, will commentate most all home sporting events this year, including volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse. Those, too, will be available to listen to for free on The Varsity Network app and at GoGriffons.com/listen.
The weekly Griffon Sports Insider Podcast, live from Hi-Ho Bar and Grill every Monday at noon, will also be streamed on these platforms.
All of these audio broadcasts will then be archived and free to listen back to on demand. You can listen to past game broadcasts on the Griffon Sports Insider Podcast (search 'Griffon Sports Insider' on Spotify or Apple), or at GoGriffons.com/listen and click the 'on demand' tab.
The Varsity Network app was developed in 2021 by SideArm Sports - a division of Learfield. Over 170 Division I schools broadcast their games on the Varsity Network app. Missouri Western is the only school in the MIAA, and one of just three Division II schools in the country, currently taking advantage of this service.
