ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western tennis (2-1) hits the road after a week off to face No. 16 Angelo State and Ouachita Baptist in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Griffons' match against St. Mary's was canceled.
Saturday's opener in the Sooner State will start at 10:00 a.m., and Sunday's finale will begin at 9:00 a.m. Both matches will be played indoors at Edmond Center Court.

Missouri Western remains ranked No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. The upcoming ITA poll will be released

OPENING THE SPRING AGAINST WJC AND AUGIE
Western opened the Spring with a 7-0 sweep over William Jewell.
The Griffons showcased a strong performance in singles matches over the Cardinals.
Cristina Granero Boj triumphed over Gwyn Gifford in the No. 1 singles, finishing with a score of 6-2, 6-0. Meanwhile,
Johanna Priedite emerged victorious in her No. 2 singles match against Maisie Markowitz, winning 6-0, 6-1.
Maeva Roguet defeated Molly McBratney in No. 3 singles with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Celia Castaño Malnero won against Brooklyn Acuff in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Additionally, MWSU secured victories in No. 5 and No. 6 singles by forfeit.
In the No. 2 doubles match,
Ellie Messenger and
Johanna Priedite cruised to a 6-0 victory.
Elena Rey Garcia and
Maeva Roguet fell short in the No. 1 doubles match, losing 7-5, but MWSU still secured the doubles point thanks to a forfeit win in the No. 3 doubles match.
On Sunday, Missouri Western dropped its first contest of the season to a well-rounded Augustana (S.D.) squad that was picked to win the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
Granero Boj delivered a win for MWSU in the No. 1 singles match with scores of 7-6, 5-7, 1-0 (13-11), while Castaño Malnero claimed victory in No. 5 singles, finishing 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4).
The Vikings (2-0) secured all the doubles matches and victories in No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles.
ABOUT THE RAMBELLES
Angelo State finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 21-4 (9-1 LSC) record and fell to No. 4 Wingate, 4-2, in the NCAA Division II National Championships.
ASU picked up right where they left off last season's runner-up finish as they head into the weekend ranked 16th in the nation with a record of 3-0. They have secured 6-1 victories over Seward County, Collin County and Northeastern State so far this season.
This will be the first all-time meeting between the two programs.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Ouachita Baptist finished last season 7-15 (0-5 GAC) and dropped its GAC Tournament Quarterfinal Match to Henderson State, 4-2.
The Tigers will look for their first win of the season this weekend after losing the season opener to Dallas Baptist 4-3.
This will also be the first meeting between the two programs.
