MANKATO, Minn. – Griffon Soccer (12-3-7, 6-2-4 MIAA), the No. 5 seed in the 2025 NCAA Central Region Tournament, fell 2–0 to No. 4 seed and MIAA foe Washburn (12-3-4, 8-0-4 MIAA) in Friday's opening round of the 2025 DII Women's Soccer Championship at the Maverick Soccer Complex at The Pitch.
Washburn broke through in the 33rd minute when Kate Hinck found her sixth goal of the season off a setup from Leah Henke and Grace Peterson.
MoWest nearly equalized in the 59th minute, finding the back of the net, but the chance was erased by an offside call that kept the deficit at 1–0.
The Ichabods pushed their lead to 2–0 in the 65th minute as Henke tallied her 10th goal of the year, with Sam Searcey providing the assist.
MoWest produced 14 total shots with eight on target, while Washburn fired 15 attempts, also placing eight on frame.
The Ichabods finished with an 8–6 advantage in saves and earned four corner kicks to the Griffons' two.
Annie McDevitt, Nicoletta Froehlich, and Brookelyn Buttolph each logged the full 90 minutes, anchoring MoWest across all phases of the match. Kendall Knisley and Maddy Harmon were also major contributors, both finishing with 88 minutes to help stabilize the Griffons throughout the contest.
