ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Men's Golf wrapped up the opening round of the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at St. Joseph Country Club on Monday, with several steady performances to start the two-day event.
Leading the way for MoWest was
Parker Boggins, who carded a 1-over 72 to sit in third after round one. Boggins' round featured four birdies, including a strong finish on the back nine to keep him near the top of the leaderboard.
Aiden Asby followed closely behind with a 2-over 73, highlighted by one birdie and consistent play across both sides.
Tim Johnston posted a 76 (+5), while
Ethan Mustard and
Tommy McDowell each finished at 79 (+8) to round out the Griffons' scoring five. As a team, the Griffons combined for a team total of 300 (+16), keeping them in contention entering Tuesday's final two rounds.
For the Griffon B Team,
Jackson Patterson led the way with a 75 (+4), placing 17th overall. Both
Davis Jungbluth and Pat Johnston finished tied for 30th with rounds of 77 (+6), followed by
Coby Puzio in 50th at 80 (+9).
Parker Bunting wrapped up the group tied for 58th with an 84 (+13).
MoWest will return to the course Tuesday morning for the final two rounds, looking to make a strong push up the leaderboard at St. Joseph Country Club.
