ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western State University has announced a two-year partnership with Clark's Custom Meat Co. of St. Joseph to provide nutritious and quality meals for Missouri Western student-athletes.
Through this partnership, the aim is to provide MWSU student-athletes with consistent access to quality meats. The agreement guarantees $6,000 over two years and is estimated to generate $15,000.
Owner Danielle Carrillo on the partnership: "Athletics and nutrition have always been and continue to be foundational parts of our family's life," Carrillo said. "There's something truly special about seeing a community come together to support a team. Beyond that, as local business owners, we greatly value being a part of our local community and supporting other local businesses as much as possible. We are so excited to partner with Missouri Western Athletics and share our award-winning meats with the athletes to see how quality protein positively impacts them!"
This partnership also ensures athletes who remain on campus during the summer will have access to healthy meals. With the cafeterias closed during that time, Clark's Custom Meats Co. will provide those athletes with ground meats and other nutritious options that are usually unavailable during the summer.
Dr. Zach Fears on the partnership: "The collaboration with Clark's Custom Meats will allow us to offer our student-athletes quality, high-protein, whole foods that will help put cement Missouri Western as a frontrunner in provisions offered from our nutrition station."
