Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, ILL. – Missouri Western State University resumed a busy April swing with a rousing pair of non-conference road wins Tuesday, April 9.
The Griffons clobbered 10 hits in both ends of a doubleheader at the University of Illinois at Springfield, paving the way for a 16-run attack over the 12 innings of action. Head coach
Joe Yegge's squad, moving to 24-14, cruised to a 5-0 lead in the opener but hand to fend off a hard-charging Prairie Stars plate resume which featured four runs in the fifth and one in the seventh. MWSU managed two in their half of the final inning of regulation to ice a 7-5 decision. The nightcap was all Gold and Black, as they piled up nine more tallies and senior pitcher
Natalie Kissinger (Hastings, Neb.) fired a complete-game three-hit shutout to top off a 9-0 victory.

Bubba Hoelscher (Papillion, Neb.) and senior outfielder
Abby Dickey (Papillion, Neb.) led the way offensively in game one. Hoelscher clouted two hits, including a triple, and scored twice, while Dickey homered. Sophomore infielder
Myah Dwyer (St. Joseph, Mo.) took aim at the rare cycle attempt in game two with a single, double and triple to go with three RBI, Hoelscher came back with two more runs driven in, and Dickey added another home run to her totals.
MWSU moves back into MIAA action Friday, April 12. They go to Northwest Missouri State University for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
