Griffs rocket into postseason

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – Plenty of superlatives accompanied an overall and MIAA regular-season finale sweep Saturday, April 27.
 
Head coach Joe Yegge's Missouri Western State University squad rolled past Lincoln University 8-1 and 12-4, reaching the 30-win mark for a third straight season. The two triumphs closed out the conference slate at 13-13.
 
Senior pitcher Sydney Rader (Norfolk, Neb.) struck out a single-game career best 14 opposing hitters in game one which also ranked as one of the top five efforts in program history. Sophomore infielder Kalee Higdon (Gretna, Neb.) produced four hits including a double and triple, and junior outfielder Mackenzie DeVine (Gretna, Neb.) posted three hits including and scored three runs to top the offense.
 
DeVine and Higdon didn't stop their ethereal plate effort after the opener's conclusion. In the nightcap, Higdon wound up with four hits and doubled with three runs scored, while DeVine homered among four hits and drove in six runs. MWSU jumped out to a 4-2 advantage after two frames and didn't look back.
 
The 2024 MIAA tourney is May 1-4 at the University of Central Oklahoma.
