ST, JOSEPH, MO. – Six Missouri Western State University student-athletes produced multiple-hit outings Saturday, April 27.
In the season finale for head coach
Damian Stambersky's squad, fans, friends, and alumni gathered at Griffon Park were not disappointed with the home team offensive surplus. Senior catcher
Noah Cook (Urbandale, Iowa) collected four hits and scored a run; junior designated hitter
Kaden Doan (Frisco, Texas) tallied three hits and scored twice; and senior outfielder
Ryan Koval (Olathe, Kan.), senior infielders
Travis Wiese (Vancouver, Wash.),
Zach Hanlan (St. Joseph, Mo.) and
Ryan Neise (Wildwood, Kan.) each registered two hits. Hanlan's stat line included a home run and three RBI, Wiese doubled during his plate day, and Koval scored twice and drove in a run.
Even with that large scoreboard cadre, Rogers State University managed to hold on for a wild 11-7 win to conclude a MIAA series triumph. MWSU opened quickly lead 5-2 after two before the Hillcats posted six runs over the third through fifth frames and three more scores in the eighth to close out the contest.
