All-GLVCÂ Lacrosse Release
Missouri Western State University's record-setting 2024 lacrosse season continued to add more headlines Friday, April 26.
As head coach Jessica Berg's Griffons prepared for their second successive conference postseason tournament appearance, they received seven all-league awards from the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The group was headlined by junior midfielder Mikaela Ness (Forest Lake, Minn.). Gaining her second career all-conference award, she was a first team honoree and Defensive Player of the Year.
It was the first-ever major league award for MWSU. Ness led the way in GLVC only contests for caused turnovers (18, 2.6/game) and placed fourth in ground balls (18, 2.6/game) and draw controls (47, 6.7/game). She ranked first overall in the league in caused turnovers (37, 2.3/game), third in draw controls (100, 6.3/game), and seventh in ground balls (41/2.6 game) while starting all 16 games.
Ness was joined by fellow junior defender Grace Williams (Ballwin, Mo.) and junior midfielder Sam Pruitt (Ellisville, Mo.) on the first team. Williams picked up her second All-GLVC recognition, and Pruitt obtained her third conference accolade. Looking deeper into the 2024 honors, senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Porter (Montrose, N.Y.) was a second team selection; red-shirt freshman attacker Brooke Tjernlund (Hugo, Minn.) and sophomore midfielder Serah Ryals (Monument, Colo.) received honorable mention awards; and sophomore midfielder Maleah Sosa (Thornton, Colo.) was named to the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship squad. Porter became a four-time awardee, while Ryals, Sosa, and Tjernlund each picked up their first All-GLVC notations.
