Early Northern State goal beats Missouri Western 1-0

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Missouri Western fell 1-0 at home to Northern State on Sunday at Spratt Stadium.

Striking early, Northern State shot out in front with a Megan Fastenau goal off an assist from Mia Zagorski. After the Wolves took their 1-0 lead into the halftime break, Missouri Western kept Northern State off the scoreboard the rest of the way. Keeley Kroonenberg led Missouri Western with two saves. The Griffons totaled six shots in the loss, one of them on goal. Missouri Western faced six Northern State shots, three of them on goal.

The Griffons had three shots in the second half, nearly capitalizing on a free kick by Lauren Nylund that was ultimately blocked by the Wolves' wall. Northern State then played keep away for the rest of the day.
