ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Opening MIAA play, Missouri Western got goals from Jaden Skinner and Kendall Knisley in a 2-0 shutout victory against Missouri Southern on Sunday at home at Spratt Stadium.
Missouri Western (3-3-2, 1-0 MIAA) broke the stalemate when Skinner recorded her fourth goal of the season in the 59th minute, assisted by Lauren Nylund. The Griffons extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Knisley — her fourth goal of the season — in the 64th minute. The 2-0 score held to the end of the game. Goalkeeper Sophie Wellinghoff kept a clean sheet vs. Missouri Southern (0-7-1, 0-1 MIAA) in her first career start, snagging a personal-best five saves.
