ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Kicking off with some competition of their earlier this summer, Griffon Cheer earned multiple awards at the UCA Cheer Camp at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy.

The Griffons earned second place overall for their Game Day Performance, a blue ribbon for Sideline Evaluation and were named the Most Improved University. Missouri Western competed and trained at the camp from July 24-26th, traveling and then practicing their stunts throughout day one. 

Day two consisted of their Sideline Evaluation Routine, and the third day featured their Game Day Routine, a Timeout Cheer and Sideline Cheer. First-year Head Coach Danielle Bauman beamed with joy after seeing her team put together an impressive performance after just a short time together.

"I was so proud of the squad and how much they improved at camp," Bauman said with pride. "I believe that camp is important to a cheer squad because it prepares us for football and basketball game days and helps the team improve their technique in stunts to progress further. The team and I are extremely excited to cheer on the Griffs with more entertainment to get the crowd excited during game day!"

Fans can spot Griffon Cheer at football games on the home sideline. Come basketball season this winter, Griffon Cheer can be found at both baselines of Tom Smith Court inside the MWSU Fieldhouse.
