DOUBLES
Missouri Western (15-6) fell in doubles action, losing at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Deniz Khazan/Nathalia Gasparin beat
Isabella MacGibbon and
Anais Peralta Criado 6-0 in No. 2 doubles, and Daniela Farfan/Xiyao Wang beat
Lucia Casas Blas/
Ariella Curci 6-3 in No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of
Anya Chavez and
Nicole Donnelly were tied at 3-3 with Dinara Alloiarova/Angela Leweurs when the point was clinched.
SINGLES
In No. 1 singles, Alloiarova defeated No. 38 MacGibbon 6-4, 6-3 in two tightly-contested sets. In No. 5 singles, Peralto Criado lost 6-1, 6-1 to No. No. 63 Clara Versier. The fourth and final point for the Buccaneers (25-0) came when Leweurs defeated Curci 6-1, 6-4 in No. 6 singles.
The Griffons end a season that saw them go further than ever before, making the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. Missouri Western graduates three seniors: Curci, Donnelly and
Kim Le. Chavez and MacGibbon end their seasons ranked within the top 40 of the
ITA Singles Poll. For the second season in a row, the Griffons won 15 or more matches, something that hasn't been done in over 10 years.
