ARLINGTON, Texas — Missouri Western Tennis took down No. 42 Dallas Baptist on Thursday, beating its second ranked team in a row and pushing its win streak to four matches in a row despite dropping the first singles matches against Division II opposition.
The Griffons won two of three doubles matches before wrapping up the match in the first three singles matches that finished. Dallas Baptist won the No. 1, 3 and 6 singles matches, but by that point, the Griffons had wrapped up the win.
DOUBLES
Anya Chavez and
Cristina Granero Boj fell in the No. 1 doubles match to Angela Charles-Alfred and Jenna Payne 6-0.
Isabella MacGibbon and
Anais Peralta Criado won the No. 2 doubles match 6-1, and
Ariella Curci and
Lucia Casas Blas won the No. 3 doubles match over Sofia Teran and Isabella Rios 6-1.
SINGLES
Chavez fell to Charles-Alfred in the No. 1 singles match 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. MacGibbon won the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-4 over Stafford. Leonie Schondelmaier beat Grandero Boj in the No. 3 singles match 7-5, 6-2, before Casas Blas won the No. 4 singles match over Rios 6-1, 7-5, and Criado beat Hudson in the No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Ariella Curci in the No. 6 match to close the day out 2-6, 6-1, 1-0.
