Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Missouri Western Tennis took down No. 33 Midwestern State to notch their first win against a ranked team this season, winning 4-1 against the Mustangs with two singles games not finishing as the Griffons took the fourth point to end the match.
The win marks the Griffons' first win over a ranked team since April 30, 2022, when they took down No. 54 Washburn 4-3 in the MIAA tournament. The Griffons fell in the doubles matches before snagging four-straight-singles matches to take the win.
DOUBLES
Anya Chavez and
Cristina Granero Boj fell in the No. 1 singles match to No. 38 Amelia Lawson and Sydney Williams 6-2.
Isabella MacGibbon and
Anais Peralta Criado took the No. 2 doubles match over Alice DiMatteo and Kanaha Furutani 6-3.
Ariella Curci and
Lucia Casas Blas fell in the No. 3 match to Emilija Visic and Skylar Minns 6-4, giving the Mustangs the doubles point.
SINGLES
The No. 1 singles match wasn't finished, but Chavez and Lawson were in a third set. with Chavez winning the first set 6-4 and Lawson winning the second 6-4. MacGibbon won the No. 2 singles match over Hannah Yip 6-4, 7-5. Granero Boj took the No. 3 singles match over DiMatteo 6-4, 7-6. Casas Blas took down Visic in the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 7-5.
