Griffons' comeback effort vs. NSU comes up short

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Missouri Western lost to Northeastern State 4-2 on Sunday on the road at DeLoache Field.

Northeastern (5-6-4, 3-5-1 MIAA) opened the scoring when Fran Badillo scored in the 17th minute. The RiverHawks grabbed a 2-0 advantage on a goal from Sydney Taylor in the 24th minute.

Missouri Western (5-6-5, 3-3-3 MIAA) closed the gap to 2-1 on Paula Burillo-Blasco's 48th-minute goal, her first of the season. The RiverHawks grabbed a 3-1 lead with a 50th-minute goal from Whitney Gentry, assisted by Taylor.

Northeastern made it a 4-1 game after Abagayle Barnes' goal in the 51st minute, assisted by Badillo. The Griffons narrowed the score to 4-2 thanks to a 57th-minute goal from Katelynn Rowland, her first goal of the season. Lauren Nylund assisted the goal. The 4-2 held to the end of the match.
