Kroonenberg collects first assist in 2-1 vs. Newman

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Highlighted by a career first for Keeley Kroonenberg, Missouri Western Soccer earned a 2-1 victory against Newman on Sunday at home inside Spratt Stadium.

Missouri Western (4-5-5, 2-2-2 MIAA) broke the 0-0 tie when Kendall Knisley scored her sixth goal of the season in the 20th minute, assisted by Kroonenberg. The Griffons extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Jaden Skinner — her eighth goal of the season — in the 25th minute, assisted by Knisley.

Newman (2-11-1, 1-6 MIAA) got on the board to make it a 2-1 match on Allison Hernandez's 37th-minute goal, assisted by Morgan Todd. The score finished off the 2-1 game, with Western hanging on for its second home win of the season.

  • Camrin Peaslee made her first career start, firing away four times with two shots on goal.
