ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Soccer takes on Augustana (0-1-1) in a matinee clash at Spratt Memorial Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Griffons (0-2-1) are looking for the first win of the year and of the
Leah Stringer era. Stringer has praised the teams ability to play within her system after playing to a 0-0 tie with Southwest Minnesota State earlier this weekend. Stringer said she felt the team is headed in the right direction after the game on Friday night.
"We had them chasing us all over the field. The only thing they could do to stop us was foul us."
GAME NOTES
- Junior Jaden Skinner has the lone goal of the season for the Griffons, netting a shot in the 3-1 loss to St. Mary's last week on the Griffons' Texas road trip.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Keeley Kroonenberg picked up her first clean sheet of the year against SMSU and brought her save tally up to 11.
- The Griffons are outshooting their opponents 31-29, as well as averaging more shots on target per game with 10.3-9.7 ratio
- This is the last non-conference game for the Griffons before MIAA play starts next weekend against Northwest Missouri. That game will not count towards conference records.
The Griffons will be searching for their first goal of the season at Spratt Stadium this afternoon, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
