Griffon Soccer drops season opener in Texas

LAREDO, Tx. — After sitting through a two-hour storm delay, Griffon Soccer started the 2022 season with a 1-0 loss to Texas A&M International on Thursday night in Leah Stringer's debut as the team's interim head coach.

The Dustdevils took an early lead that stuck with a goal by Alicia Martinizes two minutes and seven seconds into the contest. Despite letting up an early score, Missouri Western only allowed seven more shots for the next 88 minutes. Sophomore Keeley Kroonenberg collected four saves in her Griffon debut, joining junior Jaden Skinner and senior Evelyn Daly as the only MWSU players who played all 90 minutes.
